Highlights of East Bali

What to do in East Bali

Things to do in Bali: Black Beach in Keramas

Get Wet at keramas beach!

Keramas offers views over rice fields, long sparkling black sandy beaches and has on top of that a great surf spot. Watch out for sharp coral in the shallow waters of Bali. Why cuts in Bali heal slower than anywhere else?

Tip: Right in front of Keramas surf spot (other surf spots on Bali) is a Komune beach club, with a great menu and pool. And the minimum spend for a daybed is also rather low. Komune hosts surf competitions every now and then and even if you’re not into surfing, you will not regret the views!

Things to do in Bali: Explore your inner child on a swing

Chocolate factory + swings = fun

Jasri is a small village at the east coast of Bali. This place is truly a little gem as it is directly located by the ocean and is framed by palmtrees that give shelter from the hot sun. Besides enjoying the surroundings you can go surfing there (Learn how to surf in Bali!), take a swing at the beach or visit the local Chocolate Factory.

The Royal water temple

Don’t miss to stop at Tirta Gangga, a rice terrace hilled landscape with beautiful hiking and bicycling trails. And while you are already there, visit the Royal Water Palace and take some fun pictures on one of the platforms on the water. Learn more about the Balinese culture, myths and rituals!

Virgin Beach is not so virgin anymore…

but yet a beautiful beach in East Bali that is most of the time dominated by black volcanic beaches. The waters at Virgin beach are very blue and the sand is white and clear. If you climb a bit on the rocks at the end of the beach, you will discover a beautiful blue lagoon. Check Bali’s best beaches!

Tip: Watch out for some turtles. They like it there as well!

Just relax

Candidasa is a great spot for snorkelling and diving and a nice beach time alternative for the nightclub filled area of Kuta. The nature all around is stunningly beautiful, as the village is buffed by jungled hills that are still untouched. You are looking to recharge your batteries? As a small village, Padangbai still preserved its nice and quiet village feel. You are into diving? Well, then Padangbai is you spot! Selamat Datang!

Selamat datang means Welcome. Wander around, say Hi to the people and enjoy nice talks and learn more about the culture. Meet the locals!

It is almost 100% sure that the locals will randomly start talking to you. Sometimes it is because they are just nice, sometimes they want to sell you something.

Soft selling isn’t their thing. They found their own charming way in trying to sell their services and products to the tourists. “Transport, transport?”, “Massage, massage?” and “Cheap, cheap. Look!” will probably still hunt you down in your dreams.

They say it so many times, as if you didn’t hear them. Well… don’t get aggressive. Remember that these people are just trying to feed their families and keep polite and give a reaction that shows, that you are interested or most of the times: NOT.

Tip: If you are really not interested, don’t let yourself get involved in a conversation, giving the seller hope. It will be hard for you, to get rid of them again and also will give you hard feelings. Stay consequent from the beginning, if you know what or what you don’t want. 5 Tips how to bargain the right way in Bali.
